Music, theater, dance, cinema, books
During the last decades, Torino has risen to the status of international music center, as is witnessed by the quality of the offer and a solid network of orchestras, institutions, and associations, both of great tradition and of recent birth. Investing in musical activities represents therefore a priority that needs to be confirmed. But more generally it is important to carry on supporting initiatives that involve theater, music and musical theater, dance, and cinema, as well as their intersection and coordination, in spite of the resource crisis.
They constitute, in fact, an important tool not only for the promotion of the heritage, but also of cultural growth for wide sectors of the public, that are particularly attentive to the new languages in art communication.
In this direction, the announcement of competition has proven to be a fit tool for a rigorous selection and an appropriate planning on the territory, and therefore its efficiency should be emphasized as a tool for supporting the performing arts.
In the selection of the activities to be supported, particular weight will be held by initiatives aimed at the discovery and optimization of valuable historical heritage, on one side, and, on the other, the initiatives that propose expressions of innovative art and projects for the promotion of creativity that today, in the movie industry but not only, involve technological languages and digital forms of expression.
Particular care will be given to projects for the promotion of books and reading, with special attention to the growing role of the International Book Fair, as well as to network projects, in a dialogue with national policies, that may become more efficient if the hoped for establishment of a seat of the “Centro Nazionale per il Libro” will be realized in the Torino area.
