Torino: a municipal tradition open to international experiences

On 21 October The Mayor Fassino with, amongothers, Piero Gastaldo, is opening the presentation of the research: “Torino,international city. Circulating ideas, international networks and the questionof the local government (1911-1961-2011)”
On this basis the aim is to investigatewhat impact the “international networks” have had on the local government inTorino, starting from the 1911 Universal Exposition, set up to celebrate thefiftieth anniversary of national unity as the pinpoint of the flow of knowledgeand personalities afferent to local European institutions.
The work then aims to elaborate on howthese experiences develop after 1911, looking into the possible transformationswhich took place during the Fascist Era and leading up to the post-World War IIyears, when Torino becomes headquarters of European institutions such as the EuropeanCommunity of Communal Credit and the Training Centre of the International LabourOffice.
