Palazzo Barolo, the Piano Nobile with Silvio Pellico’s apartment and the Ala Alfieriana (Alfieri Wing) re-opens

Torino - 23.03.2011

The Compagnia di San Paolo is re-opening the Piano Nobile of Palazzo Barolo to the city: our foundation has supported the restoration of the of the Salone d’Onore since 2006 with subsidies of almost 2 million euros and following this, on completion of the Piano Nobile, the restoration of the Ala Alferiana and Silvio Pellico’s Apartment.

The whole renovation project restores one of the most significant expressions of Piedmontese baroque in Torino to its full splendour.
Palazzo Barolo is connected to the exhibition on Legnanino on show at the moment at Palazzo Carignano, which was supported by our foundation. The whole Legnanino project in fact includes  Palazzo Carignano, Palazzo Barolo (including the fresco paintings on the ground floor) and the Capella dei Mercanti.
Since the 90s until the present day, adding up works on churches, Museums and aristocratic places of residence in the historifcal centre of Torino, the Compagnia di San Paolo has invested over 100 million euros in order to let citizens and tourists enjoy them.
